uk caravan

hi, this is my caravan project, there are not many in the uk, i only know of 3! 2 c1 which are fairly rotten, and my c2 1200 auto which is not to bad,

this is the report i got from the guy selling it, he was in Ireland so too far to go and see it.








this is back at my home







doors are very rust but very straight


first job was getting a mot on it, jobs needed

steering rack boots (done)
front calipers overhaul
pads
wiper blades
exhaust middle and rear sections, (downpipes unavailable for autos)
tyres all round,







started on the front brakes, they were well seized, as you would expect for a car with low miles and little use,













had a day on the estate, got the exhaust on, it has a chevette downpipe on it which joins at a different place to the kadett one,





had to make a pipe to join the two sections together







wheelarch will need looking at



bought some off these from german ebay,



removed windows easy enough! and marked out where to fit new hinge


i also got some epoxy glue that dries clear and bonded hinge to glass( fitted the wrong way round in picture)


cut old rubbers out and fitted new windows, was the first time ive ever driven with side window open

It looks great i love it and i wish mine was that clean!

i does look clean and is in places has got some issues thou,

just fitted some chrome inserts into front and rear windows i have a roll which is slightly tarnished on the outer coils so instead of binning it i fitted it instead,

front needs a new seal got the rear but will fit after paint!

got some extra £6 per meter,

need these banding now.



had a look at what i will be facing on my doors as this will be the hardest part of my restore on the estate

managed to find these brand new old stock door cards in the correct colour, mint condition, well happy with them

now ive had a good look, its will require

arches
sills poss only rears?
a posts
top inner wing under box section
inner wing fronts
inner strengtheners in sill rears
battery tray on bulk head
rear quarter section rear
doors
wings
front panel

hopefully that will be it, no more horrors.

that poor blue coupe looking all neglected as usual, are you ever gong to get it painted?

its looking battered with that paint and steel wheels, will start to restore it as soon as estate is done, its basically solid so not to worried about it,

dug out panels to be fitted on estate today, still need a left hand side wing and door.

I,ve been reading your topic on the UK forum and your making a good job of it.
I did'nt know that there where kadett c carAvan's in the UK.
What kind of engine do you have in mind for this car and what will be the color.
The original color is Bernstein Gold i think.

hi, we did get the caravan, only a few remain, so its worth saving this car!

going to fit cih 2.2 and paint will remain the same colour,

het lichaam is nu gestraald schoon, geen nare verrassingen werden gevonden, hoeft alleen te beslissen wat te doen met mijn linker deur, zeer roest op het paneel, het frame is goed als de deur is zeer rechte, ik heb reparatie panelen en een nieuwe deur huid zo kan ze ingedoopt heb, in zuur en gerepareerd
